6. Risk factors

Sarcomas can develop in individuals of any age and often arise without identifiable risk factors. However, certain risk factors have been identified, including:

  1. Previous radiotherapy (RT)
  2. Genetic conditions, such as:
    • Neurofibromatosis
    • Li Fraumeni syndrome
    • Retinoblastoma
  3. Weakened immune system due to conditions like HIV, certain cancers, lupus, or psoriasis
  4. Chronic lymphoedema
