For decades our experts have been delivering innovative breast cancer research that has helped save countless lives around the world, and given women precious time to make special memories with loved ones that will never be forgotten.

But we need to do more.

The Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre will bring together talented researchers, clinical experts and breast cancer specialists - working to find the next breast cancer breakthrough, faster.

Everyone is welcome for this informal launch and awareness event. Please do bring family and friends, and stay for as long as you like. We hope you can make it.

10.00  Welcome, interactive demonstrations and information stands in the Medical School Foyer.

10.30 Launch of the Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre, Professor Stewart Martin - LT3 Lecture Theatre. 

10.40 - 11.45 Hear talks from patients and researchers on three research areas, ‘detect it early’, ‘stop the spread’ and ‘treat it right’.

11.45 - 12.15 Coffee break. 

12.15 - 13.20 Further talks from patients and researchers on the three research areas.  

13.20 - 13.30 Future events, Professor Stewart Martin.

13.30 - 14.30 Buffet lunch. 

14.00 - 15.00 Tours start, two tours of 30 mins each. 

The tours will be offered on a first come, first served basis as they are space limited.

Travel and parking

The Medical School is easily accessible by public transport. The QMC has a dedicated stop on the Toton Lane-Hucknall tram line, approximately 3 minutes’ walk from the School’s main entrance. A wide range of bus services also run past the QMC site: 

  • Stops on Abbey Street/A6005 are served by the Y5 and Skylink 
  • Stops on Derby Road/A6200 are served by the following services:
    • Y4 and Y36
    • Indigo, Eighteen, i4 and 21 
    • NET orange line buses 
    • the Red Arrow

Cycle parking is available at the front entrance of the Medical School and also in nearby Visitor Car Park 3.

Free parking for this event is available in the Medical School Car Park. Please enter the hospital site via the South Entrance on Clifton Boulevard/A52; follow the one way system, then turn right at the end of the road onto North Road no. 2. Continue straight ahead and follow the road around the site, following blue signs for the tram stop. Passing the Circle Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre on the left, continue to follow the road straight ahead. You will find the entrance to the car park on your right shortly after the road passes under the tram bridge. Please visit the Nottingham University Hospitals  website for maps of the site.
