The Interface and Surface Analysis Centre (ISAC) is delighted to announce the addition of Dr Marion Limo to its staff. Marion has taken a post as a specialist Biophysical Analyst with ISAC to support ongoing industrially facing research collaborations.
Marion received a BSc in Biochemistry (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) from the University of Nairobi in Kenya (December 2007) before undertaking an MSc in Biotechnology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) where she graduated with a distinction (November 2009). Subsequently she obtained her PhD in Chemistry (June 2014) working in the Biomolecular and Materials Interface Research Group led by Professor Carole C. Perry. Her studies were focused on obtaining a molecular level understanding of the fundamental principles that govern interactions taking place at abiotic-biotic interfaces. In particular the study of interaction mechanisms of peptides and inorganic nano-/micro-particles.
Marion's research interests and expertise have continued to evolve towards probing the relationship between material/biomolecular structure and function and the extension of governing principles to the advancement of a broad spectrum of applications in biotechnology, materials chemistry, biomedical engineering and product development. She has a particular interest and experience in biophysical techniques such as Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) and Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM-D) for the detection and quantification of abiotic-biotic interactions.
Marion's role as Biophysical Analyst within ISAC supports the world leading research and commercial engagement within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. With a dedicated commercial and industrial focus Marion's work will enable to ISAC to broaden and improve its capacity to provide co-ordinated access to a diverse range of state of the art biophysical facilities and expertise.
Welcome Marion!
