The Laboratory of Biophysics and Surface Analysis (LBSA), based in the University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy, has appointed a new lecturer to the newly formed Surface and Interface Centre of Excellence. Dr Mischa Zelzer joined the group on 1 May 2013 in a position aimed to further collaborations within the university and to build the joint partnership with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). Mischa is partly funded by the National Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry Imaging (NiCE-MSI) at NPL and he brings his expertise to advance applications of the powerful techniques used within the centre.
Mischa's interdisciplinary experience in Materials Chemistry and Biomaterial Surfaces will complement existing research activities within the group. Mischa has expertise in surface modification and analysis, stimuli (enzyme) responsive surfaces, polymer chemistry and peptide self-assembly. His research programme will focus on improving biology-material interfaces through the design of interactive biointerfaces.
