The Interface and Surface Analysis Centre (ISAC) appointed a new Surface Analytical Officer at the back end of 2015, and is proud to welcome Dr Long Jiang to the Centre and the University of Nottingham as a whole.
Long is a polymers expert, having received his BEng in Polymer Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2009. As part of his degree he spent a year as a visiting student at Department of Materials, Loughborough. He used the link to obtain his MSc in Polymer Technology at Loughborough University in 2010. Following this he moved to the University of Oxford to undertake a PhD focused on the crystallisation and phase separation in thin film polymers.
Completing his PhD in 2014, Long now supports the commercial, industrial and research operations relating to the field of surface and interface analysis. In particular Long is utilising his expertise in scanning probe microscopy, particularly Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), to enable external commercial and academic sponsors to obtain world leading microstructural data from state of the art systems. A keen surface scientist, Long is currently undertaking training in number of other physicochemical analytical techniques and will soon be able to expand his versatile skill set even further.
Welcome Dr Long Jiang!
