The Interface and Surface Analysis Centre (ISAC) is seeking a Research Associate/Fellow for a 2 year post to support it's commercial and industrial research operations. The Surface Analytical Officer will work within ISAC and the School of Pharmacy's Laboratory of Biophysics and Surface Analysis (LBSA) to provide technical and experimental support to ongoing projects.
A successful candidate will provide operational services and consultancy, with an emphasis on multi-instrument or facility experimental operations, data analysis and data reporting. The analyst will preferentially work to provide industrial or commercial services, but also be available to support core research in the LBSA and broader School of Pharmacy where appropriate.
To be suitable for this post, candidates need to have experience in the field of surface analysis, and preferentially be familiar and have used specialist analytical instrumentation including Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Candidates must have a good first degree in Materials, Manufacturing or Pharmacy or a related discipline, and a proven research track record, also have a relevant PhD (or working to award) in surface and interface analysis or related materials characterisation fields. The successful candidate should also have excellent communication skills, utilised in the form of written reports and publications, as well as presentations and discussions.
