Ideal PAR programme
This programme of scheduled meetings is only an illustration. It should
be customised. Please note that the implied increase of input into PARs
on the part of students will be supported by facilities which will be available
within Internet-PARs.
Semester 1

Week One: Start of Session scheduled get-to-know-you group meeting for
personal tutor with all new personal tutees, covering approach to personal
tutoring and the PAR and any problems over settling in and getting started
academically

Within first two weeks: 1-1 scheduled meeting on introductory information
provided by student; issues of choice of subsidiary modules, etc

After a few more weeks: progress check meeting; 1-1; reflection on the
transition from where they've come from to university study / life
Semester 2

Early: change of semester meeting: 1-1 feedback on Semester 1 assessment
results, academic reports, oral discussion of progress and plans (student
writes up afterwards as preparation for next meeting for which they send
their tutor in advance a brief review of progress and plans)

Careers Service-led group session on skills audit etc scheduled by the
department/school

At the ideal point in Semester 2: development meeting; discuss student's
review of progress and academic action plan
Semester 3

1-1 meeting within the two-week period for changing module choices -- discuss
student's reflective input:

review of Yr 1 results and feedback

course plan (especially module choices for Yr 2)

Progress check after approx 5-6 weeks -- because Yr 2 is the vital development
year, academically
Semester 4

Change of semester feedback meeting

Careers Service group event --> starting CV, scheduled by the department/school

May development meeting -- similar to the one in Yr 1 + feedback on draft
CV
Semester 5

1-1 meeting within the two-week period for changing module choices -- discuss
student's reflective input:
