Russell Stannard will be talking about the role of the Flipped Classroom in Higher Education.

Russell Stannard first Flipped his classes in 2006, before the word was even invented. The idea was received enthusiastically by his students, reducing the drop out rate on his courses and generating interest from other members of the department. In fact his work went on to impact of the marketing of his course as well as win him funding from JISC. So what is the Flipped Classroom? How can it be implemented? How much work is involved and does it really work? In this talk Russell will attempt to answer some of these questions drawing on examples of the work he has done.

Russell Stannard is a previous winner of the Times Higher Outstanding Initiative in ICT award and the British Council Technology award. His website www.teachertrainingvideos.com is visited by over 300,000 teachers a year, offering free help videos to teachers who want to Incorporated technology into their teaching. Previously a Principal Teaching Fellow at the Universities of Warwick  and Westminster, Russell is now a freelance trainer who presents all over the world.

This seminar takes place on Tuesday 7 June, 1pm. Please note the location has changed and this seminar will now be held in room A1, Law and Social Sciences, University Park.
