Black holes are nowadays well established objects in astrophysics. But how could we observe the interplay of black holes and the quantum? With black holes in the sky, the prospects are slim, but with analogue spacetime black holes created in the laboratory, observational evidence of quantum phenomena is at the very threshold of current technology, including technology and observations under development in Nottingham.
