Two winners and three short-listed Nottingham students in the ISOVER Architectural Student Design Competition 2012. The objective of this competition is to integrate a creative approach to the concept of energy-efficient construction at the passive house level. The subject of the 2012 competition was the design of a sustainable community, within the regeneration program of the Trent Basin area in Nottingham (http://www.isover-students.com/content/view/206/278/). The National Stage was awarded at Ecobuild Excel London, the world's largest event for sustainable design and construction in the built environment. This year the competition was more popular than ever, and 5 shortlisted groups out of 8 finalists were from our Department of Architecture and Built Environment. The work was developed in the Environmental Design Studio, tutored by Brian Ford, Benson Lau and Lucelia Rodrigues, and 2 groups made it into the top 3 winners: 2nd Place: Tom Bennett and Denny Chan 3rd Place: Sian Hodgson and Finn Parrott Shortlisted: Seda Kacel and My Dao; Hung Dang; Stella Praba and Rong Xu The three winning UK teams will each receive cash prizes of up to £1,000 and will go on to compete in the 8th international final, accompanied by their tutors, in Bratislava in May 2012.
