New high performance glazing technology receives commendation

Rushlight-award-2015-1-(2)

Members of the ACE Research Group at the Rushlight Awards

Members of the Architecture, Climate and Environment research group have developed the first-of-its-kind high performance window/glazing technology using evacuated tubes and heat insulation solar glass. The new technology is compatible with the Code for Sustainable Homes (80% and 100% CO2 reduction respectively for Levels 5 and 6) and future requirements of commercial buildings. In addition, the new window/glazing technology is a power generator and also a heat insulator. It can convert solar irradiation into electricity and reduce air conditioning energy consumption. The technology has been developed as a result of strong partnerships between industries and the research group, and has received a commendation in the Rushlight Energy Efficiency Award recently, which means it is now automatically shortlisted for the next award.
