With over 2,000 skin conditions in existence, it can be relatively difficult to make an accurate diagnosis based on clinical judgement alone. Over time diagnostic criteria have been developed to aid correct diagnosis and thereby ensure appropriate treatment is given as soon as possible.
In a project born out of the Inspire Summer Research Internship Programme (INSRIP) run by INSPIRE (a nationwide programme to engage medical students research) we have created a comprehensive resource that collates published diagnostic criteria. The endeavour was led by Dr Esther Burden-Teh, supported by the CEBD, with the map created by Jessie Luke, a University of Nottingham Medical Student. For further details, we'd recommend reading the accompanying research paper.
We hope you find the Diagnostic Criteria Map useful.
