Biography

I am Professor of Small Animal Surgery, having joined the School full time in 2015. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 1989 having intercalated a Bachelors of Science degree in Anatomy with Medical Sciences from UCL in 1986. I have spent my career practicing and teaching in the field of small animal soft tissue surgery, having worked in academia, private practice and industry. I am a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and hold the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Soft Tissue). In 2002, I was awarded the BSAVA Simon Award for outstanding contributions to veterinary surgery and, in 2016, I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice. Most recently in 2020, I was awarded the Higher Doctorate of Science from the University of Nottingham for my clinical research within the field of portosystemic shunts.
