Intelligent Modelling and Analysis Group

The Intelligent Modelling and Analysis Group was established in 2008 within the School of Computer Science to exploit new strengths and opportunities in interdisciplinary computing and intelligent modelling.

Between 2008 and 2013 (REF2014 period), the group graduated 27 PhDs and published over 150 journal papers and 250 conference papers.

We are a highly interdisciplinary group, currently holding over £20m of external funding as Principal or Co-Investigators.

Key aims and expertise

Our work on novel complex data analysis, knowledge representation, machine learning, decision support algorithms and modelling of human decision making have created real-world impact in biomedical informatics, security, energy management and digital economy.

The group encompasses researchers from a variety of backgrounds including computer science, the biomedical sciences, operational research, mathematics, statistics and complexity science. The group currently has 8 academic staff, 3 research staff, 18 PhD students, and 2 visitors.

IMA has strong links to the Advanced Data Analysis Centre, linking IMA research outputs to real-world applications.
