We are delighted to announce that Gabrielle Davie is visiting the Division of Primary Care on Thursday 11th July and will give a talk called "The ‘Prospective Outcomes of Injury Study’: key findings from two years following a large cohort of injured New Zealanders".
Gabrielle is Senior Research Fellow and deputy director of the Injury Prevention Research Unit at the University of Otago. Her research interests include improving outcomes following injury, injury surveillance research methodology and alcohol-related harm. In addition, she has extensive experience of utilising large administrative health datasets for injury research.
The New Zealand Prospective Outcomes of Injury Study, is a cohort study of around 3000 adults followed up for 2 years post injury incorporating a nested qualitative study. The study has quantified injury, rehabilitation, personal, social and economic factors leading to disability outcomes (including work outcomes) and explored people’s lived experiences and perceptions of injury-related disability. This hugely successful study has advanced understanding of the longer term impact of injuries and resulted in more than 50 publications.
