Thesis title - Multiphase bearingless machines have acted an essential role in the modern industry. Recently, a novel bearingless machine is designed in the University of Nottingham PEMC group. The project focuses on the control of the bearingless machine. Firstly, the fault tolerance control technique is developed. The technique attempt to operate the bearingless machine in single-phase open-circuit fault conditions and three-phase open-circuit fault conditions.  Then, a current limitation technique is presented. The proposed approach exploits the maximum capability of the machine. Finally, the active magnetic force control technique applied into the bearingless machine is moved to the conventional Multi-sector machine to suppress the machine vibration.
