Stroke Rehabilitation Research

University researcher awarded one of 12 UK places at international interdisciplinary workshop

Brazil workshop group photoCongratulation to Dr Joanna Fletcher-Smith, Research Fellow from The University of Nottingham, School of Medicine, who was selected to take part in the International Workshop on Neuropsychological Rehabilitation of People with Acquired Brain Injury, hosted at the Universidade Federal do Parana, Brazil and funded by the Newton Fund.

Places on the workshop were highly competitive with only 12 UK and 12 Brazilian places available, and it's fantastic that The University of Nottingham's Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing were represented at the discussions. Joanna is a HCPC registered occupational therapist and member of the British Association of Occupational therapists, and was one of only two representatives from the occupational therapy profession profession to take part.  Joanna represented the University of Nottingham along with former University of Nottingham post-doctoral alumnus Rachel Goodwin. .

The workshop aimed to create a multicultural network of interdisciplinary researchers, who would plan a future international multicentre research study as part of the £375m Newton Fund.
