PhD student in Biotechnology,
Christine obtained a BSc Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University in 2017 with specialization in Environmental Technology. Her BSc thesis was titled 'Process and Economic Simulation of a Bioelectrochemical Power-to-Gas cell (BEP2G) with SuperPro Designer software'.
In 2019, she obtained a MScEng in Sustainable Biotechnology at Aalborg University Copenhagen during which she specialized in microalgal biorefineries. Her MSc thesis was about characterizing and optimizing the carbohydrate production of a BiBPase mutant of the cyanobacterium Synechococcus PCC 7002 for sustainable production of feedstock for heterotrophic microorganisms in biorefineries. Additionally, the MSc included dry-lab modeling of a multi-product, integrated biorefinery for DHA and biodiesel production.
After graduation, Christine started as research assistant in the Fermentation Unit of the Novo Nordisk Center for Biosustainability in Lyngby, Denmark. The position focused on performing fed-batch fermentations of Escherichia coli in a Multi-Parallel-Bioreactor system (Sartorius ambr) and analysis of the metabolome and transcriptome.
