Dr Richard Bourne Rich completed his PhD in 2008 working on continuous reactions in supercritical fluids with Martyn Poliakoff. He is working jointly between George/Poliakoff on an EPSRC funded project on “Reactions with Singlet Oxygen and Supercritical Fluids”.

Dr Tim Easun – Tim is working on an EPSRC funded project which is a collaboration with Raithby (Bath) on Bringing the 4th Dimension to Chemical Crystallography - Time Resolved Photocrystallography and works jointly between George/Champness groups.

Dr Jie Ke – Kie Jie completed his PhD under the supervision of Martyn Poliakoff in the area of phase behaviour in supercritical fluids after he joined us from the Institute of Chemistry in Beijing. He continued postdoctoral work developing novel methods for determining the critical point of complex mixtures. He is currently working jointly with George/Howdle on a RCUK Basic Technology project linking Nottingham, Manchester and Southampton in "Topological Engineering: A technology for the rational design and organisation of functional 3D templated Nanomaterials" .

Dr Khuong Vuong Khoung joined the group in 2006 to work on an EPSRC funded project in collaboration with Perutz/Ducket (York) characterising organometallic alkane and noble gas complexes using IR and NMR spectroscopy.  He has just moved onto a project involving a major project in collaboration with York, Manchester and UEA entitled “Carbon Dioxide and Alkanes as Electron-sink and Source in a Solar Nanocell: towards Tandem Photosynthesis of Carbon Monoxide and Methanol”

Dr Xue-Zhong Sun – Zhong is a long-term member of the Group. He came to Nottingham from The Institute of Chemistry (Beijing) and stayed on to postdoctoral work following a PhD where he made many major advances which now play a central part of our work - particularly the development of time-resolved IR measurements in supercritical fluids and the characterisation of organometallic noble gas complexes in solution at room temperature. His subsequent work includes a major contribution in the use of PIRATE (Picosecond InfraRed Absorption Transient Excitation) - a National Facility at the CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory for picosecond IR spectroscopy. He is currently leading the development of the time-resolved picosecond UV, IR and Raman facility at Nottingham. He is also working on a joint Leverhulme funded project with Carpenter (Cardiff) on “Photochemical regeneration of reagents used in CO2 reduction and water oxidation”.

Ms Madeeha Batool Madeeha is a 2nd Year PhD student working on an EPSRC funded project which is  collaboration with Whittlesley (Bath) on “Unravelling the photochemistry of organometallic N-heterocyclic carbene complexes”.

Mr James CalladineJames is a 3rd Year PhD student examining the organometallic chemistry of alkane and noble gas complexes and probing reaction mechanisms.

Ms Qian Cao- Qian is a 3rd Year PhD student using time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy biological problems particularly DNAdamage. She will spend the final part of her PhD ultilising ULTRA, a new time-resolved facility developed at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Mr Ian Priestnall - Ian is a full time employee at Intertex (formally ICI Measurement Science). Ian started a part-time PhD in October 2005 working on various applications of vibrational imaging

Ms Farah Wahida Harun – Farah is a 3rd Year PhD student sponsored by the Malaysian Government working on using the combination of Matrix Isolation and infrared spectroscopy to characterise highly reactive organometallic intermediates.

Mr Wenta Su - Wenta is a 3rd Year PhD student on a RCUK Basic Technology project linking Nottingham, Manchester and Southampton in "Topological Engineering: A technology for the rational design and organisation of functional 3D templated Nanomaterials" .

Ms Han Xue  - Han Xue is 2nd PhD student working jointly between George/Poliakoff on an EPSRC funded project on “Reactions with Singlet Oxygen and Supercritical Fluids”..
