Matt, who graduated with an MBA Distinction from Nottingham University Business School in 2006, was among the finalists for the Entrepreneur of the Year category. He was one of three finalists to be given the highly commended honour.

Success with Street League

Following his graduation, Matt’s career in the charity sector really took off and in 2010, he was appointed CEO of Street League a national charity using football to tackle homelessness.

Using his MBA skills, Matt turned the charity around by focusing on youth unemployment and cutting underperforming services. Over the next nine years Street League achieved an average 42% annual growth in social impact and a 24% annual growth in turnover, all recognised in numerous awards.

Matt pioneered a rigorous impact measurement culture that enabled the charity to publish a radically new approach to impact reporting in 2016, highlighting the things the charity didn’t get right, as well as everything they did. This bold and transparent approach was well received and was followed a year later by the launch of the first live impact dashboard in the charity sector, displaying social impact in real time. Matt quickly became a sought after speaker, writing widely shared articles for The Guardian and the charity press.

Trust Impact

Matt founded Trust Impact in January 2019 with a view to changing the whole impact measurement consultancy offer, not only for charities, but for socially focused businesses and funders.

He came up with three core principles – ‘impact first’, ‘keep it simple’, and ‘be creative’, and set out to help organisations find more pragmatic and transparent ways to talk about the difference they were making.

Trust Impact has grown considerably and is now a leading strategic impact, measurement and data specialist, trusted by the CEOs and boards of some of the UK’s largest and most impactful organisations. The team is now a 30 strong group of strategy, research and data specialists.

Trust Impact has successfully disrupted the established impact measurement consultancy market with an offer that not only simplifies things, but also allows organisations to save money and focus their resources. Their end-to-end offer has enabled access to leading experts in strategy, research, and data in a low-cost and client focused way.
