So what is it like to be dyslexic? Like everyone else, dyslexics are good at some things and not so good at others. Dyslexics are often good at being creative, thinking laterally and being able to think multidimensionally.

Some say that people with dyslexia are often able to think and work differently, which means they produce innovative and creative solutions to problems. For example, an exhibition support company based in Birmingham prefers to employ dyslexics because they bring an “added benefit” to business by heightened ability to ‘think outside the box’.

Dyslexics may be lateral thinkers, who are able to come up with unusual solutions to problems. This is useful as a different viewpoint may be needed to solve many problems successfully. For example, how many uses can you think of for an elastic band? Lateral thinkers will be able to come up with lots of solutions.
