RLO: Understanding Dyslexia: An Introduction

Difficulties

Some dyslexics experience difficulties such as leaving letters out in words, reversing letters, or letters appearing to move on the page. They may leave words out in sentences, or put them in a different order. Some people don’t show any of the things most people associate with being dyslexic, for example, they may be good at spelling.

They may have difficulty in remembering things, such as telephone numbers and PIN numbers. They may have difficulty in organising thoughts in sequence, and giving or following instructions, or keeping diary appointments. They may also find it hard to remember which is left and which is right. These problems can be made worse if the person feels stressed.
