RLO: Hand Hygiene

Reservoirs of Infection

Infection is caused by pathogens, disease-causing micro-organisms, and you need to know where these tiny bugs are found. Wounds, blood, bodily fluids and skin are all common reservoirs for micro-organisms. Any direct contact with these reservoirs could result in transient contamination of your hands. You can then pass these bugs on to other patients, causing cross infection.
