Biography

I Qualified in 1998, having attended De-Montfort University - Leicester and started my nursing Career on Robin Hood Ward, at Kings Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield. Robin Hood, was a 26 bedded medical ward and admitted children from 0-16 approx, with a vast range of medical problems. Whilst there, I was the infection control link nurse and obtained my promotion from D to E grade.

I moved in 2002 to QMC, Nottingham to work on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. This was a 6 bedded unit, although just recently, it had been merged with Paediatric HDU, to make a 10 bedded unit. We cared for children from Neonates to older children, up to 16yrs, requiring advanced airway support and/or rescucitation. It included children, requiring haemofiltration and the delivery of Nitric Oxide. Whilst there, I was the resucitation link nurse, Additionally I obtained the Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care, the APLS and my band 6 in 2011. However, after Maternity leave in 2014, I felt it was time to new to pastures new and I started my current post as a Associate teacher in Clinical Skills.

Teaching Summary

I have great enthusiasm for teaching, and am looking forward to a new career in teaching clinical skills to students.
