My name is Zakiya. I have been a registered and practicing midwife since 2016, with a keen interest in perinatal mental health. After working full time as a Band 6 midwife, primarily on labour and postnatal wards, I transitioned into working for the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Throughout my time with CAMHS, I have continued to work as a Bank Band 6 midwife, mostly on the postnatal wards. I am currently working towards completing my Masters at the university and have had a very positive student experience. I have previously worked in higher education lecturing midwifery students, and I am excited to join the Midwifery Team and The University of Nottingham as a Midwifery Teaching Associate. I enjoy binge watching true crime documentaries and going to dance classes I have attended since I was 4.
