This international conference is jointly organised by the Department of Chinese Studies at the University of Zurich and the Taiwanese Studies Program of the China Policy Institute at the University of Nottingham. This two-day conference will focus on reviewing the progress in the development of civil society in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the emergent trajectories of civic agency. The key subjects for discussion include the achievements and shortfalls of civil society in Taiwan and Hong Kong, directions for future development, and the prospect of their civil society reaching out to Mainland China. This is an interdisciplinary forum that aims at generating robust and wide-ranging discussion among experts and informed individuals.
