Postdoctoral position in galaxy clusters and diffuse light

Deadline: 24th November 2023

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our team and help us study galaxy evolution within clusters as well as intracluster light and its potential to be a tracer of dark matter. The postdoc will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge observational data from ESA's Euclid satellite and will be encouraged to explore their own research projects. This position is funded by a 5-year Leverhulme Trust grant and will include generous funds for travel and computing equipment.

Applicants with experience of processing either observational or simulation data and having research interests in any aspect of galaxy cluster physics or low-surface brightness emission are especially encouraged to apply. You will need to have, or be close to completion of, a Ph.D. in astrophysics or a related subject area. Applicants should complete the online submission form and attach a copy of their CV, publications list (if not included in the CV), and a description of their research interests and relevant work to date (up to two pages).

The appointment is available for up to 3 years, with a flexible start date, but preferably before 1st September 2024. Please contact Nina Hatch with informal enquires.
