TestToProtect - Webbanner1

Testing each week protects you and everyone around you - leading to quick identification of cases and support with self-isolation to minimise transmission. It also helps to identify anyone who has come into contact with people who are infected, so they can take action to protect themselves and others.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the testing programme so far.

Over the next 12 weeks we are also offering rewards for those students who continue to take regular test at our University of Nottingham testing centres.

The more frequently you test the more rewards you can access, including entries into a draw to win £500 cash or an iPad.

We’ve listened to student feedback on how you wanted to be rewarded. The rewards will be offered in four cycles of three weeks. In each three-week period, you will qualify for a reward each week that you take a test.

The rewards on offer for each three-week cycle will be:

Week One: Food parcels

The content of these will vary across the weeks, but will include items such as a cold drink, bag of popcorn, chocolate bar, bag of sweets and packet of biscuits. Alternatives are available for those with dietary requirements.

Week Two: Drink/Chocolate and Charitable donations

You will receive a drink and chocolate bar.  If you got tested in week one and take a test in week two, you can nominate (though you do not have to) one of five charities to which the University will donate up to £1 (up to a max of £5,000 in total per week).

Charities are:

NHS Charities Together: Fund to improve services for patients, the charity helps NHS staff and volunteers both practically and emotionally so that they can continue with their vital life-saving work. Find out more.

Children’s Brain Tumour Research: Fund to support pioneering new research into childhood brain tumours, improving our understanding of these cancers and finding new, less damaging treatments. Find out more.

UoN Students Union: Fund to support student activities and events.  If you select this charity, you will be contacted to select your preferred SU Society

UoN Sport:  Fund to support improving sporting provision for talented students and sports societies.  If you select this charity, you will be contacted to select your preferred sports club or society.

Hope Foodbank:  Nottingham charity based in Beeston supporting many neighbourhood Foodbanks across the city. Find out more.

Week Three: Prize draw entries

If you got tested in weeks one and two and take a test in week three, you will, in addition to receiving another cold drink and chocolate bar, gain one entry into a prize draw which will take place in early June 2021

The prizes are: £500 (16 recipients), a new iPad (40 recipients), a University sports centre 30 day pass or sports pack (40 recipients), and a £5 voucher which can be used at certain catering outlets (200 recipients).

A student who tests once a week for each of the 12 weeks of the programme will get 4 entries into the prize draw. However, if you don’t get tested in either week one or week two of a three-week cycle, you will not gain an entry into the prize draw in respect of that cycle.

The more you test, the more times you can enter the prize draw – and you can win one prize in each of the categories set out above, i.e., you could potentially walk away with the cash, the iPad, the sports pass AND the hot drink voucher.

There are no limits to food rewards if students take tests more than once a week.
