The University is creating 195 new study spaces throughout George Green Library.
In response to user feedback, and by working alongside the original furniture suppliers of the library, we are making the following changes to create more study spaces in the areas users have told us they like most:
- In the busy A floor atrium we improving the flow of the space and are adding benches with short stay type seating
- We are introducing smaller study booths to create more private and quiet places
- The popular Post Graduate room on F floor will have more desk space
- The E floor bridge which currently has short stay PCs will now offer comfortable booths and small shared desks
- All floors that have book stacks will have lounge seating along the interior windows
There is likely to be small scale disruption in some parts of the library from Monday 23 July until Wednesday 25 July while the changes are implemented.
The library will remain open but we will be closing the Maths side entrance to allow our suppliers access to the building at times during these dates.
Full access into the building via the Pope Side entrance will be open throughout, with library staff on hand to re-direct library users as the developments take place. Local signage will also alert library users to which areas might be out of action.
All other University of Nottingham libraries will remain open and without disruption during this time. The nearest libraries to George Green are Hallward and Greenfield Medical Libraries.
