Triangle

At the University of Nottingham, students shape the future of learning and community. The Student Voice Framework is built on three principles:

  • We listen – We actively seek your views through surveys, module evaluations, forums and more.
  • We work in partnership – We collaborate with students, reps, and officers to turn feedback into meaningful action.
  • We respond – We share the changes we’ve made, inspired by your input, so you can see the impact of your voice.

We want you to hear your opinions, ideas and feedback about your education and student experience, and for you to be actively involved in decisions that shape your time here.

Your input is central to being a part of the UoN community.

We listen

Your voice matters at every stage of your journey. Here’s how you can engage:

  • Complete surveys: Share your experiences in university-wide and national surveys.
    • Non-final year students will be able to complete the Nottingham Learning Experience Survey (NLES) in January each year
    • Final-year students will be invited to complete the National Student Survey (NSS) in January
    • Postgraduate taught students (Master’s, PGCE, PGDip etc) will have chance to feedback through the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)
    • Postgraduate research students (PhD, MRes, Mphil etc) will be invited to complete the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) during their studies
  • Module evaluations: After each module you’ll be invited to complete an evaluation.
  • Student Reps and Elected Officers: Work with your elected representatives to ensure your voice is heard at every level. Find your course reps or get in touch with your SU Officers on the UoNSU website.
  • Staff Student Forums: Your opportunity to hear about the latest updates in your school, and make suggestions.
  • Focus groups: We may ask for your feedback throughout your studies in various areas, there’s always ways to get involved.
  • Speak to staff: You can give feedback at any time by speaking to a member of staff.

We work in partnership

There are plenty of ways you can get involved and work with us to co-create solutions to problems, or make improvements.

Here’s how you can be actively involved in improving student experience for you and other students:

  • We work in partnership with students across the university and with professionally trained academics who co-create learning.
  • Education and Student Experience (ESE) teams in every Faculty run events, workshops, focus groups and other opportunities to work in partnership with students to improve the student experience.
  • We work with UoNSU Officers, societies and staff on projects, activities and research that improve the student experience.
  • Students as Change Agents and Student Engagement Associates are students paid to work in partnership with the university on strategic projects.

We respond

We’ll keep you updated with how your feedback has made an impact.

We’ll do this through:

  • Discussions in class and at Staff Student Forums, or faculty Town Hall meetings
  • Meetings and updates from course reps
  • Newsletters and email updates
  • Moodle community pages and announcements
  • Activities and events in your faculty.

Timelines you can expect
