Students' Union refresh – June update

The Portland Building’s transformation is set to continue over the summer as we make way for new zones offering various services and amenities.

Demolition work has commenced on level C. Once the renovation has been completed, this will be the home for the new SU Advice space. It will also see the old lecture theatre in C11 converted to make way for toilets and bookable meeting rooms.

While construction is underway, some of your SU teams have moved to temporary offices. From the end of June you’ll find the Print Shop (and some temporary storage areas) on Level D, while Sports and Societies, SU Finances, Events, and Health and Safety will all sit on Level E. These teams will be settled in their new offices by September.

Come September we’ll be introducing two new zones where you’ll find some of the above services:

• Get Involved Zone: This will be your one-stop shop for all things Societies, Sports, Volunteering, Events, Karnival and TEC. The Education Network and the Representation and Development team (who look after elections, campaigning and student leaders) will also live in this space.
• Media Zone: Just across the corridor from the new Get Involved Zone will be the home of Impact magazine, NSTV, URN and the CD and Record Library.

The majority of the work will take place in July and August, and both zones will be ready for you to explore in September.
