New EDI guide for personal tutors

Student diversity 714x249

SU officers and student networks have been working with the University to produce a new equality, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) guide for the reference of personal tutors.

This guide helps personal tutors to explore EDI issues and to understand some of the different difficulties that our diverse student body can encounter during their studies. It can be used to support conversations and direct personal tutors to further support resources. We hope it will help to improve the academic experience of all students at the University of Nottingham, as well as the relationships between students and their personal tutors.

Personal tutors will begin receiving the guide from Monday 1 April. A copy can be viewed online.

The University and the Students’ Union provides support for students who identify as having a characteristic that falls within the EDI banner. There are a number of networks under the Students’ Union through which you can support each other, and campaign to improve your experience and extend your rights:

The University is also currently consulting on an EDI strategy, running a reverse mentoring scheme, and giving students a platform to speak about their experiences in the form of the Stronger Together campaign.
