Biography

Giovanni Facchini earned a PhD in Economics from Stanford University in 2001 and a Laurea in Economics from the University of Trento. He joined the School in 2012 from Erasmus University in Rotterdam where he also held a Chair in Economics. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London, a Research Fellow at the CES-Ifo institute in Munich, at IZA in Bonn, and an External Fellow at CReAM. He is also the Director of the Nottingham Centre for Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP).

Expertise Summary

Giovanni's recent research focuses on three main areas: the economics of race and gender; international migration and international trade. His papers have been published in journals like the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, the Economic Journal, the Journal of the European Economic Association, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Economic History and Economic Policy. Giovanni's scholarly activities have been supported by grants from the ESRC, NORFACE consortium, the European Union, the Volkswagen Foundation, and the World Bank.
