Dr John Gathergood shortlisted for Outstanding Impact in Public Policy Prize

Dr John Gathergood is a finalist for Outstanding Impact in Public Policy in the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize 2017 for his research on Price cap protection against costly payday loans.

In the collaborative research with the FCA Dr Gathergood worked closely with Dr Stefan Hunt, FCA Head of Behavioural Economics and Data Science.

This research for the Financial Conduct Authority led to a price cap for payday loans – protecting more than four million payday loan customers from extortionate interest fees.
