Students have ranked the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham the top economics school in the Russell Group in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2018.

The NSS is an independent survey conducted annually in UK. It is one of the key indicators of how students rate their time at university, and was completed by over 300,000 final-year undergraduate students in the UK in 2018.

The School of Economics achieved the highest average score across all questions on the survey with an average of 4.11 out of 5. When asked about overall satisfaction with their course, students gave the school the highest average score of 4.28. This also places the school highest in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nottingham and 5th in the University overall when it comes to student satisfaction.

Areas of particular satisfaction where the school gained the highest average scores amongst Russell Group economics schools include: the intellectually stimulating nature of the courses, the efficacy of the timetable, the communication between the school and its students, and the opportunities the courses offer for students to work together.
