Biography
Mahmood-ur-Rahman joined the School of Economics, University of Nottingham Malaysia as an Assistant Professor in August 2023. He received his second Masters (2015) and Ph.D. in Economics (2022) from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University, Japan under the prestigious Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship. He was also awarded the ADB-JSP Scholarship (2013) and was enrolled in the Crawford School for Public Policy, Australian National University. Prior to joining the UNM, he worked as an academician for 6 years in different universities.

Beyond academic research in the past, Mahmood had been engaged in numerous research and consulting projects of the central bank of Bangladesh.

Mahmood has taught Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Economics and Econometrics in the past. For this autumn semester, he will be teaching Advanced Financial Economics and Applied Econometrics I at the School of Economics, UNM.
Current Research
Mahmood's research interests cover macroeconomics, international economics, development economics, monetary economics, and financial economics related topics. Although all his previous research works have been empirical but he is also open for theoretical and experimental research. Currently, he is working on financial development and financial literacy.
