Embedding Employability in English

Hannah Whitt - D.H. Lawrence Centre

English, Year 3.

Hannah worked with the D.H Lawrence Heritage centre in Eastwood, helping to organise and promote the centre. She was also involved in the D.H Lawrence festival, which attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Hannah’s tasks included:

  • Researching audiences, interest groups and potential participants.
  • Assisting at festival events including setting up events and box office duties.

From giving input in planning the event, and setting up an exhibition, to organising a promotional event and dressing up as a suffragette, the experience was both varied and challenging. […] The placement aided my professional and academic career as well as being valuable on a personal level. It was a fantastic opportunity and I would be sure to recommend placements to any of my peers.
