Using e-Portfolios to aid reflection

According to the JISC publication,

'An e-portfolio is the product, created by the learner, of a collection of digital artefacts articulating experiences, achievements and learning'.

Mahara is an open source ePortfolio system which our students have used to collect together evidence from their work related learning placements and to reflect on their experiences. Shared group pages accessible to all placement students provided advice on successful placements including learning through reflection. An example can be seen below:

Record and Reflect

Placement students used the e-portfolio to post reflections which could be commented on by the project administrators in order to encourage work related learning and development of key skills as demonstrated here:

Students were also able to use the e-Portfolio to capture and evidence the work completed on placement, as demonstrated here:
