I have been working at the University in the Widening Participation Team, as a Partnerships Officer, since January 2018 and prior to this, I was a Student Finance Adviser. I was formally a Business teacher at a secondary school, based in Rutland, for seven years before making the move into Higher Education.
The Widening Participation Team leads the University's work to engage learners from less advantaged backgrounds in education and support their progression to higher education, including the University of Nottingham. The Team delivers over 80,000 places on more than 3,400 outreach activities each year. We support measures across the student lifecycle relating to admissions, success, financial support and progression.
I assist in facilitating the University's contribution to the IntoUniversity primary and secondary schools programme in the three community-based Nottingham Potential / IntoUniversity Centres. This involves coordinating and supporting activities both in the centres and on the University campuses.
I assist in running sessions and events with other partners, particularly with the University's three co-sponsored academies; NUSA, NUAST and the primary academy, Firbeck. I assist in supporting the development of links between the academies and the University and contribute in providing curriculum enrichment opportunities to their students.
