Biographical details

From Honda, Colombia, he was the novio of Policarpa Salavarrieta. He was taken prisoner in the battle of Cuchilla del Tambo, but was pardoned on 1 July 1817, along with Francisco Arrellano, as the military authorities believed they were not soldiers. Salavarrieta sent important strategic messages to him in November 1817. He was executed alongside Salavarrieta on 14 November 1817 at 11 a.m.. (Díaz y Díaz, 65-67, 89)
