Biographical details
On 25 May 1814 royalist colonel Manuel Antonio Blanco invaded Santa Cruz, Bolivia, as a victor. Velasco de Ibañez took stock of the situation and paid him 4,000 pesos. Colonel Blanco left Santa Cruz thinking it to be royalist and went in search of the bulk of the rebel troops. They had regrouped and attacked him at Piray and La Florida. Blanco lost the battle and was killed. (Urquidi, 230-231)
