Biographical details

From Bogotá, she was the eldest daughter of Mariana de Vives and Manuel Asencio Tello, who was executed by the royalists in 1816. She, her brothers and sisters and her mother were forced into exile in La Mesa. They were extremely poor, one brother died, and her mother married her to Gregorio Castro. (Monsalve, 164)
