Biographical details

She was born in Concepción in 1766, the daughter of Patricio Güemes Calderón y Hermosilla and Rosa Zumelzu. Her brother, Francisco Calderón was a leading figure in the independence struggles. On 19 November 1827 she wrote from San Fernando to her younger sister, Benigna, concerning the possible loss of their mother's pension. (Vergara Quiroz, 175)
