In June 1790 she took Luis Ruiz Rivera to court accusing him of seducing her with love letters and promises of marriage. She asked for him to be imprisoned to ensure he kept his word. He spent 3 weeks in jail, was released after promising to marry her and then he fled. (Díaz, 90)
