Huge congratulations to Aquiline Chivinge, who won the ‘Nottingham Black Achiever of the Year’ at the Nottingham Black Achievers Awards 2016. This was in the Learning, Skills and Employment category.

The Black Achievers Award is a prestigious ceremony aimed at celebrating achievements by people in the black community in Nottingham.

Aquiline graduated with distinction from the MSc Advanced Nursing in December 2015 and was nominated by Dr Linda East from The School of Health Sciences. Her nomination focussed on how Aquiline is such a positive role model for BME staff at NUH, especially as she has now been promoted from her previous role as Queen’s Day Case Unit Manager to Matron.

On winning this award, Aquiline said: “I am surprised and delighted to win this award. I hope I can inspire others in the Nottingham BME community to chase their dreams in nursing and healthcare. We can all step forward in confidence, and use our talents to improve patient care.”

Well done Aquiline!
