Lord Dearing Awards 2019

Congratulations to staff in the School of Health Sciences who have received Lord Dearing Awards for excellence in learning and teaching for 2019!

Since 1999, the Lord Dearing Award Scheme acknowledges the world-class contribution made by University staff to enhancing the student learning experience.

School of Health Sciences colleagues regularly appear on the annual list of winners and this year we are especially proud to announce the success of our staff across two teams:

  • Advanced Clinical Practice Apprenticeship Team: Ruth Pearce has led the development of Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) apprenticeships in the UK, creating a national profile for the University of Nottingham in this field. Ruth has also excelled at networking with numerous healthcare organisations such as the Royal Colleges, where she is shaping the development of this role.  At the University of Nottingham, Ruth has co-produced the ACP apprenticeship programme with students, employers, service users and careers. The development of the ACP role through the apprenticeship route is receiving a lot of attention among healthcare providers and Ruth has put the University at the forefront of this national movement.
  • Colleagues from the School of Health Sciences have also been recognised for their work wth the Open-source Prosthetic and Assistive Devices, alongside colleagues in Engineering and Sports Centre.
