Hospitals and care settings
In hospital or care settings safe food must be delivered to large numbers of people at the same time and some, such as the elderly, sick, children, babies and pregnant women, may have reduced immunity.
Think about delivering safe food to people in your care. What considerations should you make?
Write your considerations here and then click button for feedback.
You might have considered the following:
- Is the food safe to be eaten or drunk?
- How long has the food been in the danger zone time wise?
- How long ago was the food delivered to the ward?
- Was the patient available when the food was delivered?
- Who brought the food onto the ward? If it was by a friend what is its storage history?
- What should the temperature be?
- When taking food out of the fridge is it above 8 degree Celsius? Best practice is 5 degree Celsius or below.
- Who would you report a high fridge temperature to?
