Ignoring the risks involved in handling tasks in the workplace can lead to physical injuries or exacerbate existing problems. Injuries where an individual’s body movement is affected are referred to as Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs).
Despite extended knowledge of the causative factors, MSDs remain a major concern in the workplace. So why are we still suffering?
It’s known that the biggest risk industries are Human Health, Construction, Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Transportation and Storage. Human health has the third highest incidence for back conditions and upper limb disorders out of any industry. Back problems are seldom caused by a single injury and one of the highest risk factors for back pain is being unfit.
