Ingenuity KnowledgeXchange event - Building your personal brand.

Companies spend thousands of pounds marketing their business through advertising, flashy offices, designed logos and other branded materials which all focus on sending a message to their customer about their business. They are fully aware of the power of a visual message but often do not relate this to themselves or their employees. Ultimately, people buy from people. This is where the image perception of you and your employees does make a difference.

Consider the power of a first impression, what first impression do you give? Do you have a personal brand?

Beth Cooper is Employer Relations Consultant at Nottingham University Business School. Building on her international corporate experience, a key part of her current role is developing relationships with potential employers of masters and MBA students in the UK, as well as internationally. She also delivers sessions to the students on appropriate business attire.

Beth says: “Whether in the UK or overseas, I appreciate how I present myself can make a big difference. Whether it is dressing appropriately for India or meeting with directors of FTSE 100 companies, there are short-cuts that can help me gain credibility from the very first meeting. In so many ways, I have learnt and observed that one size does not fit all.”

Beth will be joined by Cleo Lacey, who will share her professional insights. Cleo is an Image Consultant and Personal Shopper. The philosophy of her company, Demi-Couture, focuses on how wearing the right clothes can boost an individual’s self-confidence by making sure the way in which they dress reflects who they are. Cleo extends these principles from individuals through to working with companies to develop their professional image through their people.

This interactive seminar will give you an insight into how you can use your personal brand to enhance your company’s image. Whether you are motivated by increasing sales effectiveness or having an extra spring in your step, you will be armed with a variety of practical ideas to take away that will help make a difference and to stand out for the right reasons.

The Shop Window – your chance to take the floor

Every Ingenuity Knowledge Exchange breakfast offers both business owners and people from within the University the chance to make a brief presentation to the room about something they are looking for help with.

From the University? If you have a business-facing project or want to work with local small and medium-sized businesses as part of your research, this is your opportunity to make contact with business owners who are already interested in what happens at the University and who may be interested in participating with your initiative.

From business? Sorry, but this isn’t time for a standard “60 second pitch” – feedback tells us that our businesses want something different from Ingenuity. But it is your opportunity to do some research of your own, ask for volunteers for new product or service trials, to ask if anyone has any recommendations for difficult-to-find suppliers, or simply share some news that the audience might not find out about otherwise.

Email Steve Upcraft if you would like to participate in a future Ingenuity Knowledge Exchange Shop Window.
