The guest speaker for the Integrated Global Society Annual Lecture 2012 will be eminent academic and Sociologist from Columbia University, Professor Saskia Sassen.

Professor Sassen is the Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair, The Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University. Her research and writing focuses on globalisation (including social, economic and political dimensions), immigration, global cities (including cities and terrorism), the new networked technologies, and changes within the liberal state that result from current transnational conditions. In her research she has focused on the unexpected and the counterintuitive as a way to cut through established “truths.”

The lecture is in Room A39, Sir Clive Granger Building, University Park, is free to attend and no tickets are required.
